What about next round rules would be "commodore 64" theme?

-C64 samples
-only 4 tracks allowed
- no columns
-no effects

Oldschool way....

He said "no effects", which I think means no effect column usage either. Doesn't sound like a very popular round idea. I can forsee lots of people accidentally breaking the rules too

Organic IO summed it up. While limitations make for a interesting challenges, challenge alone may not attract a large number of participants.

Reverting back to no effects and strictly 4 channels might be too restrictive for all but the most hard-boiled veteran or dedicated oldschooler.

Keep in mind that even if it isn't a theme doesn't mean you can't enter a C64 style track in a compo (as long as it complies with the rules, ie no conflicting theme, etc). Anyone here can appreciate the skill involved in making a 4 channel track without any effects.

I was under the impression that effects were kind of added to c64 tracks.
ie arpeggio, slide, vibrato etc...
I am aware these were written in code or whatever but they were effects all the same.
