I may change this or make a better one, after all, I just got the thing... For noisy acid/hardcore goodness.

I like those samples so far. To be a complete pack I think it needs some more percussion.

Looking at the page for the monotron now, it looks pretty cool if quite basic. Patching in a noise source (or something else) into the aux in would help with snare and hihat drum sounds. Otherwise how high does the oscillator pitch go? Is there any sort of envelope on the filter?

It's a pretty wide range, the LFO can also go high enough to become audible as a bass. There is no proper envelope, but the LFO starts over at the top of its cycle when you touch the ribbon. The kicks and hits take advantage of this. The "wows" are me twisting the cutoff pot by hand. Some people have modded in their own EGs and Gates, I may experiment with this sort of thing in the more distant future (eg. if I find another one that's just as cheap.)

I didn't think to plug in a noise source, I figured that these would compliment some other sounds, including regular sampled drums. I'll experiment with a noise source tomorrow and see if I can make some snappy hats and snares.

JustinCredible would have a field day with this set :)

I say it could use more drums and pads, but other than that it's a great starting point for a variety of sound shaping...

I think it's good for us to impose limitations on ourselves, so it's fine with me however you want to put it together :D Just let me know when you're done and I can stick it in round 63.

Chris, Do you have access to the SDcompo ftp?

I'm always a fan of good unprocessed (menas NO REVERB, no fx, no filters etc.) basic sample material. Wet samples are more difficult to integrate.

I should have some time off next week, hopefully I'll remember to update the folder- I made a few drum-based sounds by hooking up a noise source. Some of the samples used my guitar amp for pre-amp and compression, and some of them have GSNAP to keep them in tune, but otherwise I'm trying to keep the sounds as raw as possible.

Because the next round is likely to be the open Holiday round, I'll try to get this stuff ready for the January round.

I had completely forgotten about the usual Holiday round yesterday and I was about to ask you if this would be ready for the next round. :) But I guess we'll go ahead and do the Holiday thing and then use this for Jan
