Just curious how this would go? Allowing christmas covers? Or vocals?

Otherwise, it would be challenging to make an original instrumental x-mas tune... not impossible, just hard.

My preference would be allowing for both covers and vocals.

I can already hear in my head "You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm telling you why: Jesus Christ is coming to town..."

That, or an original political anthem about post-modern Christmas being chiefly a vehicle for capitalist consumerism. :D

i don't think anybody could be expected to write an original xmas tune. it just wouldn't feel xmasey. i think it would have to be covers.

i like your lyrical ideas, directionless. i'm really starting to like you :D

I'll write one anyway :)

It was my tradition to make a christmas song every year...
maybe it's time to bring it back =)

My first xmas song was "nude santa" :)

Hey, I wrote an original Christmas tune! ;)

Heheh, anyway A Christmas theme is a great idea! :D Let's leave it open so you can either remix or be original. Round 22 Christmas theme!

Samples samples samples... the samples need to be good and Christmassy. We'll need a saxaphone... and some bells... electric guitar.. hmm what else. Send in your Christmassy samples and lets make this a kick ass pack!

this begs for another question ....

VOCALS or not ? it will be the difference between midi/muzak sounding xmas songs, and EPIC PRODUCTIONS !!!!

your choice :)

Yeah, that sounds like a holly jolly good idea. If Sonicade approves the vocals, then let's do it. :)

Hey vocals go for it. I'm kinda thinking maybe we should make vocals a permanent addition to the rules. Make no vocals the exception from time to time? :)

Woo hoo!
I like christmas.
It is the part of me that is a child that no one can take away.
Still recall as a child unable to get to sleep the night before.
Getting up at 5am.
Scalextric.
Big trak.
Transformers.
He-man.
Thundercats.
.............(daydreams......)

don't know if it makes any sense, but...

How about filesize-limit-only rule for this round?
(Allowing vocals and other samples to be used freely, maybe optional samplepack)

I'd really love that!

I was also thinking along those lines Aged. We haven't done a no-sounds-barred round before and it would free everyone up to make anything they wanted.

Edit: That would render the modules unrealistic if fancy VSTs were used. Unless we required everything to be sampled. *thinking out loud* That's probably the way to go, everything sampled.

What do you guys & gals think?
